International Symposium on Glycemic Carbohydrate and Health

In 1998, the International Life Sciences Institute Japan (ILSI Japan) received a three-year research grant to initiate research on the medical and nutritional aspects of sugars. In 2001, ILSI Japan convened and sponsored an international symposium on glycemic carbohydrates and health, which was held in Tokyo, Japan. Discussion at the symposium covered a broad range of current research on the effects of sugars and glycemic carbohydrate on body systems and on health.
